JOB SUMMARY


This position performs safety and security job functions under direct supervision as assigned by management.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Greets and signs in/out non-cleared visitors entering and leaving the site in a professional and courteous manner

  2. Maintains continuous visual, audible, and/or physical control of un-cleared personnel while in security areas

  3. Ensures that all non-cleared visitors and subcontractors are working to proper site security plans

  4. Checks identification for all incoming persons and ensures all persons have a proper badge with appropriate access levels

  5. Coordinates all paperwork including any incident reports, daily logs, and other items as required

  6. Reacts to all alarms and emergencies, contracting the proper persons as per security procedure

  7. Performs all duties necessary in accordance with all applicable procedures and security requirements

  8. Maintains current knowledge and awareness of security plans, emergency and operation procedures

  9. Operates all vehicles safely and efficiently according to all laws, policies, and procedures (this includes having a current, valid driver’s license)

  10. Must be capable of reading and understanding post directives

  11. Must be capable of understanding and retaining complex oral instructions, as well as recognizing and adjusting to changes in the work environment

  12. Other duties of similar scope and nature as assigned


Minimum Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY

Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference depending upon the nature of the position

Basic Qualifications


  • US citizenship preferred

  • Must possess an active DOE "Q" clearance and be HRP

  • Ability to acquire and maintain any other specific special clearances/access requirements

  • Current, valid driver’s license

Education/Experience


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D

  • Three (3) months of experience performing work in a public safety and/or security-related position

  • Related experience preferred

Background Prerequisites

Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements

Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing)


  • Must be capable of standing for extended periods of time (10 or more hours)

  • Must be able to walk for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to work under adverse weather conditions

  • Must be able to climb ladders

  • Must be able to work in high places (i.e. roofs)

  • Must have eyesight that is correctable to a minimum of 20/40

  • Must have hearing that is correctable to a minimum 35 decibels above average at frequencies of 500, 1000, and 2000 hertz

  • Ability to maintain alertness

  • Must be willing to work day or night shift

 

WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical/Mental Demands)

  • Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations

  • May be exposed to stressful situations, such as challenging individuals who are in or approaching an unauthorized area

  • May be required to work overtime without advance notice

  • Work in an ever-changing environment, which includes inside and outside assignments where one might be exposed to natural elements such as rain, ice, snow, and heat

  • Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents, or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed

Wage for this position is $35.25/hour + $5.36 H&W

Benefits:


  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401k (if paid via Health and Welfare benefit, there is no separate company contribution).

  • The paid leave for full-time employees is from 80-160 hours / year based on longevity in the position, and sick leave is a minimum of 56 hours per year for a full-time employee.
