GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to perform work associated with construction and maintaining of roads, bridges and other facilities that are the responsibility of Oconee County. Duties include operation and maintenance of light to heavy trucks and equipment, semi-skilled work and manual labor, while working in various environments and climates. This position will report to their respective assigned crew leader.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent, and one (1) year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Required : Must possess a valid SC commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements. Must possess a valid DOT health card for commercial driver’s license.
Preferred : None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is very heavy work which requires exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
This position has the following special vision requirements: close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down and to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a high risk indoor and/or outdoor work environment; may encounter noise, weather, extreme temperatures, moisture, humidity, dust, odors, fumes, gases, vibration, electrical hazards, mechanical hazards, or moving mechanical parts. In the performance of their duties, employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as face masks, goggles, boots, gloves, or eye shields.
