A well-established steel company is looking to hire Fire Watch Associates/ Laborers in the Fort Lauderdale, FL area. You will be responsible for observing work areas to ensure they are free of safety hazards and fires.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Actively observes designated work areas for potential fire risks during hot work operations (welding, cutting, grinding, etc.)
• Ensures fire extinguishers, hoses, and other safety equipment are readily accessible, fully operational, and in good condition
• Performs regular checks of work sites to identify and mitigate fire hazards, ensuring compliance with safety protocols
• Immediately notifies emergency services and supervisors in the event of a fire or safety incident
• Stays in constant contact with team members and supervisors, relaying any changes or concerns regarding safety hazards
• Completes and other tasks assigned

Who We’re Looking For

• Experience in a fire watch role or similar safety-oriented position is a plus
• Basic knowledge of construction, industrial, or maintenance work, including safe handling of tools and equipment
• Ability to recognize potential fire risks and unsafe work conditions, including flammable materials or improper equipment usage
• Physically able stand or walk for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in physically demanding environments
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and emergency responders
• Stay alert and focused for extended periods, ensuring safety and compliance with fire watch regulations
• Dependable and on-time attendance, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed
• Ability to remain calm and take quick, decisive action in emergency or high-pressure situations

What You Can Expect

• $17.00 – $18.00/hr, based on experience
• Monday – Friday, 6:00am – finish
• Overtime, guaranteed 50 hours a week
