Job Description

Position Title: HRIS Analyst

Overview: The Human Resource Information System (HRIS) Analyst will support and maintain the organization's HRIS applications and modules. The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) is in need of an HRIS Analyst to perform support, configuration, and large volume data entry tasks in DOCTime (Time, Attendance, and Leave Management) and Cardinal Human Capital Management (HCM).

Responsibilities:

  1. Support the HRIS Unit, which may include large volume of data entry in both the Time and Attendance System (DOCTime) and Human Capital Management system (Cardinal).
  2. Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HR system users.
  3. Manage permissions, access, personalization, and similar system operations and settings for HR system users.
  4. Manage mailboxes with customer requests/inquiries for access and other needs.
  5. Audit and update HRIS data fields as necessary.
  6. Program custom functions and documentation such as automated queries, filters, and reports.
  7. Compile or assist with the acquisition of complex data reports, summaries, and logs for senior executives and HR staff.
  8. Ensure system compliance with data security and privacy requirements.
  9. Collaborate with HR staff and vendor to identify system improvements and enhancements; recommend and implement solutions.
  10. Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in HRIS providers, vendors, and technology.
  11. Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Familiarity with human resource policies and procedures to ensure the HRIS meets organizational needs and goals.
  6. Ability to keep information confidential.
  7. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, with strong Excel skills.
  8. Thorough understanding of all areas of information systems with a highly technical understanding of at least one commercial HRIS product.

Education and Experience:

  1. At least two years related experience required.
  2. Bachelor's degree in computer science, human resource management, or related field preferred.
  3. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  2. Prolonged typing (repetitive movements of the hands and wrists).
  3. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Work Arrangement:

Selected candidate would need to be able to report to the office as needed (meetings, etc.). They would have a great degree of flexibility in teleworking unless performance concerns were identified that needed to be more actively supervised.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
