Vivo HealthStaff is recruiting for a Locum Tenens Optometrist in San Francisco, California.We are seeking a California-licensed Optometrist for a 6-month locum tenens assignment in a pediatric-focused hospital outpatient setting. The ideal candidate has experience working with complex pediatric populations and is comfortable seeing patients of all cognitive abilities, including those on the autism spectrum and with developmental delays.Position Details:Job ID: 2805436Specialty: OptometristStart Date: 05/05/2025Contract Length: 26 WeeksSchedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PMShifts: 5x8-hour shifts per weekPatients per Day: 12-14 patients; appointments scheduled every 30 minutesFirst/Last Patient: 8:00 AM / 4:30 PMPatient Population:Primarily pediatric patientsSome adult patients with developmental delays or binocular vision issues (not required for locum to see adults)Department Overview:Outpatient hospital setting with support staff including techs, ophthalmologists, and optometristsDepartment handles both routine and high-acuity pediatric optometry casesEquipped with full diagnostic imaging devicesOptometrists conduct workups and manage patient carePatients are often co-managed by other pediatric specialties, such as neurology and craniofacial teamsPreferred Skills and Experience:Residency in pediatric optometry is highly preferredIf no pediatric residency, at least 3 years of pediatric optometry experience requiredExperience with strabismus and binocular vision examsAbility to perform contact lens fitting, including complex fittings for pediatric patientsEMR: EpicRequirements:Doctor of Optometry (OD) degreeActive California optometry licenseBLS certificationExperience working with pediatric populations, including those with complex needsCompensation & Benefits:Pay Rate: $125-145 per hour depending on experiencePayment: Weekly direct depositInsurance: Malpractice insurance providedSupport: Dedicated recruiter assistance throughout the assignmentOnboarding Process:Expedited credentialing availableAssistance with compliance and facility paperworkOrientation provided before the start date
