Lakeshore Talent is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Part Time Medical Transcriptionist & Disability Appointment Coordinator to support disability benefit cases for public pension members. This is a contract role (approximately 6 months) with flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work remotely after initial onsite training. This position plays a critical role in helping individuals navigate difficult life transitions by ensuring their medical documentation is accurate, timely, and handled with care.

• Compensation: $25–$40/hour depending on experience.
• Shift: Part Time: 5 hours per day ( Flexible Hours between 8am-5pm)
• Equipment provided.
• Work Environment: Hybrid after training

Position Overview

In this role, you will support members who are pursuing disability benefits. You will manage medical transcription tasks, coordinate multiple doctor evaluations, and provide exceptional customer service throughout the disability claims process.

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe medical evaluation audio files from providers with accuracy and timeliness.
• Format and finalize transcription documents in Microsoft Word.
• Return completed transcriptions to physicians for review and confirmation.
• File verified medical records securely and confidentially.
• Coordinate and schedule disability evaluation appointments with three different medical providers.
• Serve as a supportive point of contact for members, answering questions and guiding them through appointment logistics.
• Communicate regularly with internal benefits administrators to ensure smooth case progression.
• Track case status and follow up as needed to keep evaluations moving forward.
• Maintain organized, detailed records using MS Office and MS Teams.
• Provide empathetic, professional customer service to members facing significant career and life changes.
• Manage daily workload independently within flexible hours (approximately 4–5 hours/day or 20–25 hours/week).

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Prior transcription experience required (medical transcription strongly preferred).
• Experience coordinating or scheduling medical appointments highly desirable.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Reliable work habits and consistent follow-through.
• High level of empathy, patience, and customer service focus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel).
• Comfortable collaborating with team members via MS Teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive medical and personal information.
• Ability to train onsite for the first few weeks and come into the office as needed thereafter (approximately once a week).
