Job Description

Reports Developer / Power BI Developer

Hybrid – 2 Days Onsite (Monday & Wednesday)
Catered Lunches on Wednesdays

About the Role

We are seeking a Power BI–focused Reports Developer who thrives in a smaller, collaborative team environment. This role is ideal for someone who not only builds dashboards from scratch, but also thinks deeply about why those dashboards matter—guiding stakeholders, asking the right questions, and transforming business needs into actionable insights.

The core of this role is Power BI development, SQL, and data modeling. Candidates with experience building models (not just using pre-built ones) will stand out. Additional experience with Snowflake, Azure Data Factory (ADF), or Salesforce reporting is highly desirable.

Essential Job Functions

Power BI Development & Dashboarding (Primary Focus)

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards from scratch —including dataset creation, modeling, transformations, and visual design.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify needs, and guide them toward the most effective dashboard solutions.
  • Exercise strong critical thinking: focus on what the customer needs , not just what they request—help shape their decision-making through strong business acumen.
  • Build and enhance underlying data models to support reporting needs. (Experience building models—not just consuming them—is preferred.)

Reporting & Data Management

  • Design and maintain reports using Power BI and other tools (e.g., Salesforce, SSRS, or similar platforms).
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of data through validation and quality checks.
  • Optimize existing dashboards, SQL queries, and reporting processes for performance and usability.
  • Support end-users by providing training, documentation, and assistance with interpreting data outputs.
  • Stay current with reporting, BI, and data visualization trends to help drive continuous improvement.

Team & Project Collaboration

  • Work closely within a small, agile BI and analytics team.
  • Contribute hands-on to project deliverables.
  • Identify and drive improvements to data reliability, efficiency, and reporting quality.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Skills & Abilities

Core Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Power BI development (creating dashboards, measures, datasets, data models).
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).
  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective dashboard and reporting solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse concepts, ETL logic, and data modeling principles.

Highly Desirable Bonus Skills

  • Experience building data models from scratch (preferred).
  • Snowflake experience.
  • Azure Data Factory (ADF) experience.
  • Salesforce reporting experience (major bonus).

Core Competencies

  • Critical thinking and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • High commitment to accuracy, quality, and detail.
  • Strong time management and prioritization.
  • Effective collaborator who can also work independently.

Minimum Qualifications

(Equivalent education/experience combinations will be considered)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in reporting, BI development, or a similar analytical role.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing dashboards and reports (Power BI preferred).
  • Solid understanding of data modeling and database design.
  • Experience with data visualization and presenting analytical findings.
