Join to apply for the Section Chief of PBS/CBS role at NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) ***IMPORTANT NOTE: Only those currently serving as a permanent or probable permanent, i.e., probationary, Administrative Engineer will be considered.*** The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) manages water supply, wastewater, and pollution reduction for New York City, employing nearly 6,000 staff across various facilities including reservoirs, treatment plants, and laboratories. The Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT) oversees sewage treatment facilities across the five boroughs, including 14 treatment plants and related infrastructure. Under general direction, the selected candidate will serve as the Section Chief of PBS/CBS in the Division of Maintenance Requirement Contracts within BWT. Responsibilities include engaging with high-level supervisors, reviewing PSR reports, processing tank registrations, coordinating compliance with DEC regulations, supervising staff, managing funding, and supporting safety and environmental standards. Minimum Qualifications: A valid New York State Professional Engineer license. Six (6) years of full-time experience in engineering or plan examination work, with at least two (2) years in an executive, managerial, or administrative role.
