Job Title: Senior E&S Underwriter
Location: Remote based in Los Angeles, CA
Salary: $100,000 - $130,000

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Excess & Surplus (E&S) Underwriter to join their dynamic team. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with deep expertise in E&S property underwriting, particularly in habitational and commercial real estate risks. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving profitable growth, managing complex risks, and shaping underwriting strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, price, and underwrite new and renewal E&S property submissions with a focus on habitational and commercial real estate.
• Develop and maintain strong broker relationships to drive high-quality submissions and profitable business.
• Analyze risk characteristics, coverage terms, and pricing strategies to ensure alignment with underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and product teams to refine underwriting criteria and develop innovative solutions.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform underwriting decisions and strategy.
• Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to team development and training.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of E&S property underwriting experience, with a strong focus on habitational and commercial risks.
• Proven track record of profitable underwriting and broker relationship management.
• Deep understanding of E&S market dynamics, coverage forms, and risk assessment tools.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field; CPCU or other industry designations preferred.
