Summary

Perdue AgriBusiness is seeking a  Senior Motor Carrier Freight Planner in  Plymouth, NC . This position will be responsible for providing motor carrier freight planning that will ensure timely delivery of products and superior logistical support to the customers and business units within assigned geographic area. Collaborate with the Planning team and Business Units to provide service oriented, cost effective transportation solutions.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Monitor assigned Freight Planning load boards, assist with truck capacity needs and resolving operational issues including Customer Service inquiries by BU’s and routine spotting and indexing of lanes rates.
• Develop motor carrier freight plans and assign carriers and drivers to customer loads that will ensure timely delivery and adequate logistical support for the customer.
• Develop and provide rate solutions within traffic lanes that will optimize truck capacity, create continuous movement and leverage rates on backhauls. 
• Ensure proper carrier selection and established rates are applied to minimize transportation costs.
• Provide logistical support to include scheduling loads, solicitation of loads and empties.
• Generating export documents, bills of lading and other motor carrier documentation as required.
• Confirm scheduled motor carrier pickups and deliveries, obtain weight information and other logistical information required to facilitate communications with operations, accounting, and customers. 
• Research and correct motor carrier transportation problems that will ensure superior customer service; minimize transportation cost; and reduce rejected loads, scheduling conflicts, and loss/damage/demurrage claims.
• Maximize the use of the AgriBusiness Motor Carrier Transportation Management System.

Minimum Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• BS Degree - Business, Logistics, Transportation or Agriculture (preferred)

Experience Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of previous motor carrier experience.

• Knowledge of the motor carrier industry.

• Knowledge of motor carrier industry rules and regulations.

• Knowledge of commodity movement rules and regulations. 

• Knowledge of motor carrier requirements for container transportation. 

• Understanding of standard software applications and transportation software. 

• Strong communications, math, analytical, negotiating, and interpersonal skills. 

• Experience in oil logistics transportation a plus!

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

• Normal climate-controlled office environment. Required to travel to remote AgriBusiness facilities and customer locations. Able to communicate on the telephone and use standard office equipment.
