HERITAGE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Strength and Conditioning Coach will work with the Athletic Director to create and implement a robust strength and conditioning program for Heritage Christian student-athletes, incorporating proper weight lifting and body movement techniques and skill progressions.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS : The employee must be a Christian with an authentic and a mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who agrees to the HCS Statement of Faith, Charter of Core Values and Employee Covenant in both their professional conduct and personal lifestyle. The employee is committed to incorporating these qualities and standards in carrying out the calling to Christian education. In addition, the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships, representing Christ and HCS professionally and positively with the HCS community-at-large, including faculty and staff, Board members, parents, volunteers and others is crucial to the success of this role.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Youth sports, high school and/or collegiate level coaching/training or other job related experience. Strength and Conditioning certification is a plus.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Ability to encourage partnerships with parents, coaches, students and other staff
- Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness,
- self-control, perseverance and punctuality.
- Meet the stress of athletic competition with emotional stability and positive words/actions.
- Ability to work afternoons and evenings during the school year and/or during the day in the summer.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: - Teach athletes to perform sound, safe fundamental techniques in the weight room and in their sport.
- Establish weight room rules. These rules would include, but not limited to:
- weight room expectations
- safety standards
- proper techniques
- attendance at workout sessions
- care for equipment
- Provide supervision of teams in your care at all times when athletes are present
- Develop progressions and workouts for all athletes
- Secure facilities when done
