Nurses with large scale adult PCU experience and community hospital ICU experience tend to do well in our area. Average patient load is 3 high acuity patients. “PCCU is designed to provide specialized care to the acute and chronically ill surgical and medical patient population 18 years of age and older and trauma patient population 15 years of age and older. Unit Specifics: Number of Beds : 17 Unit staffing description- 3:1, 2:1 patient assignment. Core staffing for 7 RNs, 2 PCAs, and one ASA (unit secretary). Type of equipment : Spacelab bedside cardiac monitoring, arterial lines, EVD, non-invasive ventilatory support (bipap, cpap, hfnc), EKOS. Documentation system: Cerner Sorian Scheduling requirements: every other weekend, 3 UTs allowed per contract, weekend shift make up policy. Floating policy: to care areas with like-populations. AMC has an internal float team that assists in filling staffing needs. Patient Experience requirements: see description below.
