Charleston Collegiate School (CCS) is an independent, co-educational, non-sectarian day school serving students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Situated on a picturesque 60-acre campus of playing fields, wooded trails, and an outdoor education center, CCS is located on Johns Islandjust 20 minutes from Charlestons historic district and the beach resorts of Kiawah and Seabrook Islands. Job Summary:

The Upper School Chemistry / Math teacher is a key member of the Upper School faculty responsible for teaching chemistry and mathematics courses. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of success teaching at a high school level with a particular emphasis on chemistry. Charleston Collegiate values multi-talented teachers, so the ability to teach all levels of high school mathematics is preferred. And the ability to offer courses in other disciplines, such as engineering, computer science, or other sciences is a plus.

• Scaffold instruction to meet individual student needs, using data to inform teaching practices and monitor progress in line with academic standards and outcomes.
• Partner with colleagues to align teaching practices and share ideas for interdisciplinary learning.
• Communicate effectively with families about student progress, successes, and challenges.
• Stay informed on best practices in secondary education, participate in professional development opportunities, and contribute to the CCS learning community.
• Incorporate opportunities for students to engage with the local community, fostering connections that support learning and community integration.
• A positive can-do attitude and growth mindset
• A willingness to participate in student-life activities e.g., advisory, club leadership, coaching, after-school programs
• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject discipline, e.g., Education, chemistry, or mathematics
• A minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience

Desirable Qualifications:

• Independent school experience
• Advanced degree / postgraduate qualification
• The ability to teach other subject disciplines and elective courses
