New York Edge is a non-profit organization and one of the largest providers of school-based afterschool programs in New York City and the metropolitan region serving over 25,000 elementary, middle, and high school students each year. SUMMARY
New York Edge is seeking a motivated and community-minded Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to strengthen and expand our volunteer programs. In this role, you’ll design and coordinate meaningful volunteer experiences—from corporate speed mentoring sessions and career panels to donation drives and author visits—that connect community members and corporate partners with our students.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves building relationships, planning events, and helping volunteers deepen their impact. You’ll work closely with our Development and Program teams to ensure volunteer opportunities are well-organized, aligned with school needs, and contribute to fundraising goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Engagement & Program Development
Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive volunteer engagement strategy in partnership with Development and Program teams.
Identify and develop creative volunteer opportunities that deepen company and individual engagement with New York Edge and our students.
Maintain strong relationships with school sites to assess needs, coordinate schedules, and align opportunities.
Actively grow and diversify our corporate volunteer network through outreach and relationship management.
Event Planning & Execution
Coordinate all aspects of volunteer events, including scheduling, logistics, site preparation, volunteer communication, and on-site support.
Serve as liaison between company contacts, site staff, and program leadership to ensure smooth execution.
Attend events to oversee operations, capture photos/video, and ensure high-quality experiences for all participants.
Collaborate with the Communications team to create marketing materials, social media posts, and recap content for stakeholders.
Data Management & Reporting
Track volunteer participation, hours, and engagement in Salesforce; maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records.
Compile event summaries, feedback, and metrics for reporting to leadership, partners, and the Finance Office.
Develop and distribute volunteer feedback surveys; analyze feedback to continuously improve programming.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Share lessons learned, best practices, and creative problem-solving ideas with colleagues.
Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives that strengthen community engagement and support the mission of New York Edge.
Support Development in achieving fundraising goals by cultivating pathways from volunteer engagement to donor relationships, including stewarding corporate volunteers toward donor pipelines, facilitating introductions to corporate foundations, and assisting in securing corporate sponsorships.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required.
2+ years of experience in volunteer coordination, event planning, or community engagement.
Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
Experience with Salesforce or CRM systems a plus.
Flexible, proactive, and able to travel to school sites as needed.
Additional Requirements:
Certifications or credentials in a skill-based activity relevant to New York Edge’s mission preferred.
Must pass safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and Department of Health upon hire.
