Wastewater Engineer – Leading General Contractor

Location: Columbus, OH

Salary: $90,000 - $140,000 (commensurate with experience)

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leading general contractor with a strong presence in Columbus, OH , is seeking an experienced Wastewater Engineer to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and impactful water and wastewater infrastructure projects , contributing to the design, planning, and execution of treatment facilities, pipelines, and related systems.

The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in wastewater engineering, a degree in Civil Engineering , and a solid understanding of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment processes. While a Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus, it is not required for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design, planning, and construction of wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and conveyance systems.
• Conduct engineering calculations, hydraulic modeling, and technical analysis to support project execution.
• Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and municipal agencies to ensure successful project delivery.
• Review plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Provide technical expertise during project bidding, estimating, and preconstruction phases.
• Oversee field investigations , site assessments, and construction activities related to wastewater infrastructure.
• Participate in value engineering efforts to improve cost efficiency and performance of treatment facilities.
• Stay current on industry regulations, emerging technologies, and best practices in wastewater treatment and infrastructure development.

Qualifications:

• 5-10 years of experience in wastewater or water resources engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with wastewater treatment design, conveyance systems, and pump stations .
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and hydraulic modeling software is preferred.
• Knowledge of EPA, AWWA, and local municipal regulations governing wastewater treatment.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, government agencies, and stakeholders .
• PE license is a plus but not required .
