Part-Time Admin Assistant Ad

Part-Time Administrative Assistant

Do you have administrative & compassionate people skills? First Baptist Church West Hartford, an American Baptist Church, is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant that would work 20 hours per week.

 

We are looking for a responsible candidate to keep our church’s day-to-day operations in order. Your job will be to provide administrative support to the Pastor, staff, and church leaders, and coordinate all daily office activities. The Administrative Assistant should be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to multitask with ease. Our ideal candidate has experience as an administrative assistant or relevant administrative role. The candidate should be proficient with Apple computers and software, MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel), publishing software, Yahoo mail, iContact, and Zoom. This is a faith-based organization and we are looking for an individual with a level of integrity and a high level of self-direction. Having a faith tradition is not a requirement for this job.

 

Responsibilities:

· Reports to the Senior Minister and supports her work with the congregation

· Receptionist duties, including answering phone, managing mail, preparing and distributing hard copy and electronic communications

· Publishes worship materials weekly and for special services

· Weekly and/or monthly publications via email using iContact

· Record keeping, preparing business reports

· Order office supplies

· Coordinate special announcements to church community and public

· Assist with the coordination of special events, i.e. funerals, weddings, special occasions

· Work with volunteers on special projects

 

Qualifications:

· Experience working in a professional office environment, with experience in a faith community a plus.

· Strong Microsoft Office and Apple computing skills required.

· Ability to proofread, pay attention to detail, and learn new technology as needed.

· Basic knowledge/experience with database management systems.

· Strong email skills, working knowledge of iContact or other email systems a plus.

· Internet savvy with a basic knowledge of Zoom, Facebook, YouTube, and other commonly used applications.

· Able to manage and enter information onto the church website.

· Individual is friendly, approachable, and a team player.

· Able to adapt quickly to a changing environment.

· Able to maintain and hold confidential information.

· Education level: high school required, college or some college preferred.

· Experience in a church, synagogue or other faith community is a plus.

Other considerations:

The Administrative Assistant reports to the Senior Minister and works closely with the church staff to perform the tasks required to maintain the ministries of the church. The Administrative Assistant will be evaluated on a yearly basis according to standard First Baptist Church procedure. Further employment details are specified in the First Baptist Church Personnel Manual.
