Overview Scheduled Hours: 37.5 The Associate Director works closely with the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of Advancement to manage a portfolio of Principal Partner prospects, donors in the portfolio of the Executive Vice Chancellor, and university trustees, including those with the capacity to make gifts of $5M+. The position focuses on parents as Principal Partner prospects, leading coordination with the Parent and Student Engagement Team and gift officers. The role also supports activities related to the Board of Trustees, annual fund giving strategies, engagement strategies and implementation, and the building of tracking and reporting structures. The position coordinates with the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director to facilitate the implementation of strategy that engages Principal Partner prospects through a variety of cultivation and stewardship efforts to yield significant support. It requires high-level relationship-building skills and the ability to align Principal Gifts with resources and consultation for complex gifts solicitations (this can be learned in the role). The Associate Director will collaborate with University of Arizona colleagues, faculty, students, and staff, navigating the university structure to include partners in both fundraising and strategy verticals. The role requires attention to detail, project management, diplomacy, creativity, and flexibility to adapt to new opportunities. The Associate Director will help manage the execution of coordinated strategy as well as urgent requests and opportunities for donor engagement. The role requires the ability to prioritize and reprioritize, and a commitment to understanding the university’s strengths and priorities to contribute to engagement strategies. Strong writing skills are required. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Partner with the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director on strategy for Principal Partner portfolios, including extensive collaboration with Relationship Managers and university partners, with a focus on parent constituents. Manage action items and follow-up on strategies in coordination with university and university advancement leadership, the Principal Gifts team, and UA partners. Includes data management responsibilities, ARCH entry, tracking, and reporting. Collaborate with the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director to prepare materials and communications for university leadership in support of Principal Partner and Board of Trustee fundraising efforts, including emails, written communications, briefing materials, cultivation and stewardship pieces, and coordination with Principal Gifts and UA partners. Support the development of briefing materials to prepare university leaders for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of principal gift prospects. Other duties as assigned. Flexibility to adapt to new assignments and ambiguity as programs evolve. This position is located in St. Louis, MO and the targeted hiring range for this position is $58,400 - $66,000.
