About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman’s Spatial Technology Group has a rewarding opportunity for a GIS Intern. You can be based out of the Milwaukee, WI, or Crystal Lake, IL office and you will have the ability to work in the field as well as at client locations. This on-the-job experience will support the firm’s GIS department. Successful candidates will possess a strong work ethic, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work within a wide variety of project types and environmental conditions. What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job:

• Report to the Spatial Technology Department Manager for work responsibilities, scheduling, and tasks.
• Perform office-based mapping tasks including but not limited to hardcopy, digital, and web-based products.
• Assist with ArcGIS Online maps and app configuration and support.
• Provide field-based services including but not limited to GPS data collection of utilities, pavement, signage, ADA, As-builts, etc.
• Provide onsite work for municipal clients and field-based projects as needed.

Education Requirement:

• Ongoing pursuit of a 4-year degree in Geography with an emphasis in GIS.

Must-haves, what you will bring:

• Ability to handle office-based GIS and Spatial Technology related tasks.
• Able to perform field-based GPS services, data collection, inspections, and condition assessments in a wide variety of project types and environments.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to travel throughout the Chicagoland area (own transportation).

Compensation: The pay for this role is $21.00 an hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
