Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Data Security Consultant with deep expertise in Microsoft Purview and related data protection, compliance, and governance technologies. This role will lead and support client engagements focused on implementing data discovery, classification, labeling, data loss prevention, regulatory compliance , and insider risk management capabilities in Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical implementation skills, client-facing consulting experience, and the ability to align cloud-native security and compliance tools with business and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver consulting engagements focused on Microsoft Purview and related M365 and Azure data protection solutions.
• Implement data security and compliance capabilities across:
• Microsoft Purview Information Protection (MIP) – auto/classification, labeling, sensitivity policies
• Data Loss Prevention (DLP) – across M365 workloads, endpoints, and cloud apps
• Microsoft Purview Data Map & Data Catalog – scanning, classification, metadata governance
• Microsoft Purview eDiscovery, Insider Risk Management, Records Management
• Support compliance framework assessments and control mapping (e.g., NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, HIPAA, CMMC).
• Configure and optimize Microsoft Purview policy enforcement across SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange, and supported endpoints.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders to design data governance models, policies, and lifecycle strategies .
• Document and deliver runbooks, configuration guides, architecture diagrams , and client deliverables.
• Support remediation of M365 and Azure security gaps identified during assessments or audits.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 4–7 years of experience in data security, compliance, or information protection roles.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience implementing or supporting Microsoft Purview or related Microsoft Information Protection technologies.
• Practical experience with:
• Microsoft Purview (formerly Microsoft Compliance Center)
• Sensitivity labels, auto-labeling policies , and DLP policy configuration
• Information barriers, insider risk policies , and compliance score optimization
• Data scanning and classification using Purview connectors (Azure, on-prem, M365)
• eDiscovery (Standard & Premium) and retention/records management
• Understanding of data lifecycle, classification schema design , and governance best practices
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks : NIST CSF, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, CMMC
• Strong reporting and documentation skills using tools like Excel, Power BI, or Compliance Manager
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications:

Microsoft certifications (preferred):

• SC-400: Microsoft Information Protection Administrator
• SC-300 , MS-500 , or AZ-500 (as additional bonus)

Experience with:

• Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (MCAS) for cloud DLP and session controls
• Microsoft Entra ID Conditional Access + Identity Governance
• Microsoft Compliance Manager for assessments and templates
• Microsoft Purview Data Map , Azure Purview (for Azure SQL, Data Lake, Blob scanning)
• Experience working with legal, risk, data privacy, or compliance teams

Soft Skills & Consulting Attributes:

• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical topics to business stakeholders
• Ability to work independently across multiple clients and industries
• Team player with collaborative mindset; ability to coordinate across IT, compliance, legal
• Strong organizational and documentation skills; client deliverable ownership
• Familiarity with professional services or consulting environments (billable delivery mindset)

• Successful rollout of Microsoft Purview-based data security capabilities
• Improved client compliance score and measurable data protection outcomes
• Standardized policy templates, documentation, and governance artifacts delivered
• Strong client feedback, repeat business, and knowledge transfer completed
• Contribution to internal accelerators, playbooks, and repeatable delivery assets
