Forge Forward is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to support a client in Patuxent River/St. Inigoes, MD. Position will be primarily on-site at the client, so ability to commute daily by car is required. Some situational telework is possible. Relocation is not offered for this opportunity.

Requires a minimum of seven years of experience in performing data science functions within commercial or government organizations. This position requires an active Secret clearance which means you must also be a US citizen. Candidates not meeting both of these requirements cannot be considered. Candidate must possess expert knowledge of data science best practices and be competent in using both structured and unstructured data. Will be responsible for developing both reporting dashboards and predictive analytics models. Must be competent in the ability to maintain model development rigor, assess model performance, and ensure the accuracy of information. Candidate must have exceptional attention to detail and should have experience interfacing with senior leaders, technical team members, and staff in non-technical career fields. Should have some experience leading small data science teams.

Functional Responsibilities and Skills:

• Leads the development and implementation of advanced techniques and analytics applications to transform raw data into actionable insights using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software.
• Oversees the application of data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large and unstructured datasets.
• Guides the visualization, interpretation, and reporting of data findings, ensuring clear communications of insights.
• Oversees the creation of dynamic data reports to support strategic decision-making.
• Supports and guides junior staff and collaborates with senior team members in applying analytical techniques and methodologies to enhance project outcomes.

Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
• B.S. in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
• US citizen with active Secret clearance (Interim clearance is acceptable).

Desired Skills:

• Proficient with using SQL and querying relational databases.
• Proficient with Python or R programming languages.
• Proficient with using Business Intelligence (BI) software to develop dashboards- (familiarity with integrating Python/R code into BI software).
• Proficient with data engineering, data cleansing, and developing data models.
• Ability to understand requirements and interpret them into tasking for team members.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to a variety of different stakeholders.
