Time commitment: 3 days a week, subject to athletic team schedules (3:00 - 6:00 pm)
Job Responsibilities:
- Help design and implement programming and schedule strength sessions for both in-season and out-of-season athletes
- Conduct sports-specific needs analysis of all Upper School Brearley sports programs. Supervise, teach, and support student-athletes assigned strength programs. Track athlete progress, assist in strength testing, goal setting, and maintaining attendance records for all student-athletes
- Teach safety protocols and equipment use procedures to students, faculty, and staff utilizing the facilities
- Communicate with Upper School team coaches about team participation reports and individual athlete goals
- Make recommendations to coaches about practice activities to support student-athlete fitness goals
- Coordinate with Head Strength coach and Athletic Trainers for student-athlete programming during breaks
- Execute rehabilitation protocols with direction from Athletic Trainers with regard to injured athletes
- Assist with routine maintenance checks and keep yearly and monthly safety logs. Report any broken or lost equipment to the Athletics department
- Participate in tracking inventory and ordering equipment
- Assist with maintaining a clean, clutter-free space
Qualifications:
- Current personal training certification (NCCA Accredited Certification) required; Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) preferred
- Up to date will all certifying governing body's CEU requirements
- CPR/AED and First Aid certified
- Demonstrated commitment to educating the Brearley community about fitness through a body-positive, anti-racist, supportive lens
- Experience working with high school level athletes preferred
- Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of coaching, programming, and weight room safety protocols
- Reinforce expectations for athlete conduct that mirror the Athletic Department's mission statement and AAIS league, per the student-athlete handbook
- Evidence of ability to interact appropriately and positively with students and colleagues
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate lifting and spotting techniques
- Sitting, standing, lifting, and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, and moving equipment/boxes up to 50 lbs.
Salary
The wages for this assignment is a stipend based on a sliding scale of $3,700 - $4,200.
