Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly organized and proactive Trucking Dispatcher to join our transportation team. In this role, you will coordinate the movement of vehicles, drivers, and shipments to ensure timely and efficient deliveries. You will serve as the communication hub between drivers, customers, and internal departments, managing day-to-day dispatching operations and resolving any logistics challenges in real time.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the movement of goods and people to ensure timely deliveries and pickups
Monitor drivers' schedules, assigned routes, and real-time progress
Provide status updates to clients, drivers, and internal stakeholders
Answer incoming calls and route them to the appropriate department or personnel
Schedule deliveries and pickups with customers and assign drivers and vehicles accordingly
Track shipments and input updates into the EDI system or internal dispatch software
Maintain accurate and current records of drivers, vehicles, and shipments
Communicate effectively with drivers to provide instructions and handle route adjustments
Resolve issues or conflicts that arise during transportation, such as delays or breakdowns
Coordinate with external carriers or logistics partners as needed
Support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction through effective dispatching
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required; relevant certifications or coursework in logistics a plus
2+ years of experience in dispatching, logistics, or transportation coordination preferred
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in dispatching software, EDI systems, or transportation management systems (TMS)
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Familiarity with DOT regulations and Hours of Service (HOS) compliance is a plus
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus depending on the region
Schedule & Work Environment:
Full-time position
May require flexible hours, including evenings or weekends depending on operational needs
Office-based, with frequent communication via phone, radio, and dispatch software
