VP of Information Technology (Austin, TX) Austin, TX; Remote; Scottsdale, AZ Location: Downtown Austin, TX or Old Town Scottsdale, AZ (In-Office); Remote considered for the right candidate At most companies, IT is seen as a back-office support function. Reset passwords. Approve access. Keep the WiFi working. Not here. At Files.com, IT is a mission-critical driver of security, productivity, and operational excellence. As our VP of Information Technology, you will own the entire internal technology ecosystem that powers a fast-scaling SaaS company. This isn’t just about support—it’s about strategy, systems, and building an environment where 100% of our people can do their best work every day. This is a hands-on executive role . You’ll set vision, but you’ll also roll up your sleeves. You’ll design systems that scale, eliminate friction in how we work, and keep our people secure without slowing them down. From device management and SaaS tools to automation, compliance, and employee experience, IT at Files.com is not an afterthought—it’s a lever for growth. We’re looking for a leader who thinks like an engineer, acts like an operator, and delivers like an owner. If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping into a VP-level role where you can shape the future of internal IT at a profitable, growing SaaS company—this is it. Who We Are We’re Files.com, a profitable, founder-led SaaS company powering secure file transfer and automation for 4,000+ global brands you know: Target, Canonical, UPS, Leica, DirecTV, GoPro, Marriott, and more. We’ve built a $35M+ business with just 70 people by hiring smart, disciplined, and high-output teammates who act fast and own outcomes. Backed by $46.5M from Riverwood Capital, we’re scaling with discipline—and this role is central to that growth. We are open to candidates based in our Austin, TX or Scottsdale, AZ offices, and we also welcome remote candidates who bring the right level of seniority and impact. We trust our leaders to choose the environment where they do their best work. Our Austin office is downtown with sweeping views of the Capitol, a gym, and all the amenities of a world-class workspace. Our Scottsdale office is in the heart of Old Town, with huge windows ️, craft coffee ️, free drinks, and catered breakfast every day —plus direct access to some of the best lunch and happy hour spots in the city. Twice a year, we bring the entire company together for energizing off-sites in cities like New York, Nashville, Miami, and San Diego. Strategic Mandate and Clear Scope This role is 100% focused on internal systems, tools, and security. You’ll own: All internal SaaS platforms, hardware, device management, and user lifecycle tooling. Internal compliance, access control, and IT security measures. Productivity and support processes for every employee. This role does not touch customer-facing infrastructure. Where there’s overlap, you’ll collaborate with—and ultimately defer to—the Engineering organization. What We’re Looking For Cultural and Values Alignment This role is a live test of our core values. The right candidate embodies: Communicate Well – Make complex topics simple, triage with empathy, and align cross-functionally. Make It Effortless – Remove friction. Thinks Like a Builder – You’re here to eliminate chaos, not manage it. You’ll design scalable systems and repeatable strategies that improve with scale and stand the test of time. Skills and Experience You Bring Deep comfort in an Apple-native environment. Proven hands-on experience with MDM platforms, including building custom deployment packages and scripts. Fluency in IT security and compliance practices: access logging, SSO/LDAP, and policy design. An automation-first mindset: if it can be scripted, it should be. Ability to “speak engineer” — collaborate with technical teams, contribute scripts, and partner effectively with Engineering leaders. Security Philosophy Files.com has a unique security posture: we expect to outperform companies 10x our size—without sacrificing productivity. That means: No security theater. No broken experiences in the name of compliance. No tolerance for sloppy execution. Your job is to protect the business as aggressively as possible, while keeping security invisible to employees. If something feels like friction, we revisit it. What You’ll Actually Do Own internal IT strategy in a Mac environment : SaaS management, device control, access systems, and user lifecycle processes. Deliver early wins : identify high-impact improvements in your first 90 days and build trust fast. What Success Looks Like Internal IT systems are automated, scalable, and invisible to most employees—because they just work. Security is seamless, effective, and friction-free. Help desk tickets are rare, handled quickly, and often prevented before they happen. Employees consistently describe their IT experience as “effortless.” Files.com meets compliance standards without chaos, confusion, or red tape. Engineering trusts you as a true partner who speaks their language and gets things done. Leadership sees IT not as overhead, but as a growth driver. Who Thrives in This Role You see IT as a systems design challenge, not a support queue You think like an engineer and automate everything you touch You’re obsessed with security but allergic to friction You can lead at the executive level while staying hands-on when needed You thrive in fast-moving, disciplined environments where ownership is the culture You’re a Mac-native expert who lives and breathes the Apple ecosystem Why This Role is Exciting This is a rare opportunity to step into a VP-level role at a profitable, founder-led SaaS company where IT isn’t an afterthought—it’s a strategic driver of growth. You’ll have the authority, resources, and executive visibility to design systems that scale and shape our operations for years to come. Unlike many IT leadership roles, this one is 100% focused on internal excellence. You won’t be putting out fires for customers. You’ll be building deeply—future-proofing our internal systems, enabling our people to do their best work, and collaborating directly with senior leadership on the strategy that powers the company. If you’re a strategic IT leader who’s ready to build, automate, and elevate—while sitting in a VP seat that actually matters—this is your opportunity. 401(k) with 4% Company Match Equity Grants for Every Employee 20 PTO Days + 11 Holidays + Full Company Winter Break $1,000 Signing Bonus + Modern Apple Laptop (Mac-only environment) + Anniversary Gifts ️ Team Travel to NYC, Austin, Nashville, San Diego, and more Bottom Line: If you want an executive role where you can make IT strategic—not reactive—this is it.
